ROOTED MOVEMENT

The Grounded Unwind

A gentle 5-minute movement practice for releasing held tension, reconnecting with the body, and returning to steadiness.

You do not need to stretch deeply or move perfectly.

This practice uses simple, breath-aware movement to help you notice where your body is holding tension, invite a little more ease, and reconnect with the support beneath you.

BEFORE YOU BEGIN

Let the movement be small, simple, and supportive.

You may do this practice standing, seated, or by adapting the movements in any way your body needs.

Nothing here needs to be deep, dramatic, or perfectly coordinated. Let your breath stay natural and let each movement be guided by comfort rather than force.

If anything feels uncomfortable, make it smaller, slow it down, or skip it completely.

Give yourself about 5 minutes.

GROUND INTO SUPPORT

Let your body meet the ground.

Begin by noticing where your body is supported.

If you are standing, feel both feet beneath you. If you are seated, notice your feet, seat, and the surface holding your weight.

Gently shift your weight from side to side. Let the movement stay small enough that you can notice the ground receiving you each time you return toward center.

Continue for a few slow passes.

I can move without losing my root.

SOFTEN THE SHOULDERS

Let some of the holding loosen.

Let your arms rest comfortably by your sides or in your lap.

Slowly draw your shoulders upward, then gently roll them back and let them settle down.

Repeat a few times at an easy pace.

Then reverse the direction if that feels comfortable, noticing whether the movement wants to be smaller, slower, or softer.

I do not have to carry everything in my shoulders.

CREATE A LITTLE SPACE

Reach without straining.

Let one arm begin to float upward only as high as feels comfortable.

Reach gently through the fingertips while keeping your feet or seat connected to support.

If it feels good, lean slightly toward the opposite side and notice the space along your ribs and side body.

Return to center slowly, then explore the other side.

I can create space without forcing my body open.

TURN WITH EASE

Let the movement come from curiosity, not force.

Return to a comfortable center.

Let your arms rest easily, then slowly turn your chest and shoulders a little toward one side.

Keep the movement small and let your head follow only if that feels comfortable.

Return to center, pause, and gently explore the other side.

Move back and forth a few times, noticing where your body naturally wants to stop.

I can listen to my body as I move.

LET IT MOVE

Give the body permission to loosen.

Return to a comfortable center.

Begin to gently shake or wiggle your hands. If it feels good, let that movement travel into your wrists, arms, shoulders, feet, or legs.

Keep it soft and easy. There is nothing you need to shake away.

Simply let your body experience movement without needing to hold everything so still.

I am allowed to soften without forcing release.

RETURN TO CENTER

Let the movement become still again.

Slowly let the shaking or wiggling become smaller until your body returns to stillness.

Notice your feet, your seat, or the support beneath you again.

Take a moment to sense what feels different now, even if the change is subtle.

You may notice warmth, ease, steadiness, energy, or simply a clearer awareness of your body.

I can return to steadiness after I move.

CLOSE THE PRACTICE

Carry the ease with you.

Take one more moment to notice your body as it is now.

Feel the support beneath you. Let your breath move naturally. Notice anything that feels softer, steadier, warmer, or simply more present.

You do not need to hold onto a particular feeling. Let this moment of connection be enough.

From my Sanctuary to yours… ROOT. BREATHE. RISE.
